Halong

Covered in lush forest and home to secluded bays, the dramatic limestone islands of Halong Bay in Vietnam's northeast are just one of the country's World Heritage listed destinations. Translating as “where the dragon descends into the sea”, Halong Bay is believed to have been created by a fierce dragon, who carved out its valleys before plunging into the sea, leaving in his wake the spectacular landscape seen today.

Whether you opt for a day cruise or a multi-day adventure, Halong Bay is best explored on traditional Chinese-style junk boats. Cruises weave through the towering limestone formations, stopping at pristine beaches and karst rock formations along the way. You can kayak along the rugged coastal edges or hike through remote stretches of jungle, then end the day with an unforgettable sunset over the South China Sea.

There are almost 2000 islands within the bay, some of which are settled with small village communities where you can discover how they make a living from fishing in Halong Bay's waters. There is also a beautiful national park where you can trek to spot a range of wildlife, including the endangered Cat Ba langur. For guests wanting to explore below the water’s surface, there are also plenty of dive sites to explore that include fascinating underwater caves and grottoes.

Halong Bay remains one of Vietnam’s most spectacular destinations, so why not join one of our shore excursions to take in its unforgettable majesty.
